WannaGoFAST Ocala 2017 Recap

I can’t say enough about how awesome and fun this weekend was in Ocala, FL with the people from WannaGoFAST! This thread is going to be hard to keep short and sweet but I’m going to do my best.

For the people that don’t want to read through the whole thread I’m going to just go ahead and throw out the highlights right here….

Took two fully TSM Built ELITE Plus cars to FL for a standing half mile race.

Full Weight, Full Exhaust, Full Interior, Stock Seats, 20” Wheels… both cars JUST as the customers daily drive them. One car even had a roll bar, aftermarket stereo and a bunch of sound deadener in it… beyond full weight.

I can not say enough about how happy I am with the results for these two customers especially. Both cars were built here at TopSpeed in the last 2-3 weeks. Steve’s car (car #1) was delivered to him Friday morning and loaded directly onto his trailer for the trip to WGF. He had never even driven it since the upgrade from Alpha9. John’s car (car #2) has been in his possession for 2-3 weeks total but he had never done a half mile event before even when it was FBO.

As I said above we did not touch either of these cars from the way the are driven. I very specifically did that frankly because I was curious. While we have run my brothers Orange car and Erik’s black car over and over… and over in 1/4 mile as well as 1/2 mile, most of the time we do that with dumps on the exhaust as well as the passenger seat pulled just to give them the best shot at going as fast as possible. I personally really wanted to see if you took a customers delivered, warrantied, full weight car down the half mile with some good air just how fast would it really be.

Many people have asked me how the ELITE setups are so fast and if the performance numbers of the “shop development” cars could be duplicated. Well I feel so good that we have proven that not only can it be matched by a customer driven car, in some cases it can be even superseded. The real key to this setup is the average power. We spent 18 months trying different combinations and setups on these turbos in order to produce a product that would perform along with bigger setups just because of HOW and WHERE they make power.

Obviously you can tell from the numbers above that the customers were beyond happy. There is really nothing we love more than taking our builds out to the “proving grounds” and watching as a customer enjoys them. My staff are all like minded in this! We are there at the line jumping and yelling when the cars are consistent and fast… it is engrained in every one of us.



So enough about those two.. they have gotten enough lime light :)

We had a few other customers with us as well. One customer had a stock engine ELITE build that he ran all day both days. His best time was a 170.1 which I was impressed with. For a stock engine bolt on turbo car that is really fast! We also had a customer there with an older 4.0ltr engine of ours and a 3 year old GTX35 ETS Kit. He was able to run a very impressive 205.2 after Taylor making some tweaks to the map. We also had a local HKS1000 customer with us. We didn’t build that car but we did tune it and add a few little things after he purchased it. That car made a good amount of runs Saturday each time getting map updates from Taylor. He also laid down a very impressive 197mph by the end of the day.

All in all we couldn’t have asked for more! Two nights of hanging out with great customers and friends… two days of great racing, awesome weather, and breaking records… every single car performed without one single hiccup… I actually couldn’t have created a more fulfilling weekend in a fantasy.

I can’t thank my team enough! My shop helper Cullen who is will to help with absolutely anything no matter what it means for him… my tech Brent who coincidentally built both of the ELITE Plus cars we ran, he is simply the man! Then my tuner Taylor, him and I simply have a way of working together that I have never experienced before with a tuner. His customer support and humility is second to none! I can not say enough good things about each and every one of my guys that were there. Then there was the team back at TopSpeed getting cars ready for the World Cup coming up in a couple weeks :)
